WHEAT GRAIN WITH SHREDDED COCONUT/NGANO ZA NAZI NA SUKARI
Wheat with shredded coconut (& sugar)- known as 'Ngano za nazi na sukari' is another favorite snack that kids would really like. I often cook it as an alternative healthy snack. We used to munch a lot on this fulfilling wonder during Madrassa breaks in our youth (a long long time ago!).
More information & tips
1) If you do not wash the grains, they will end up being 'sticky', so wash as much as possible. Although you can use pearl barley, cracked wheat is the grain of choice.
2) If using fresh coconut, try and shred it very finely. If using shop bought dessicated coconut, re-hydrate as per your packet instructions.
