SILVER CYPRINID HOT PEPPER SAUCE/CHACHANDU YA DAGAA
This is a personal recipe that I used to crave for all the time when I was pregnant! For whatever reason, I 'invented' and re invented all sorts of recipes using this East African fish known as Silver cyprinid from Lake Victoria or famously known as 'OMENA' (Kenya) or 'DAGAA' (Tanzania). This is a (hot) pepper sauce and you can use to accompany any dishes. As with any recipe, this is a personal input, you can vary the ingredients and/or the preparation method, but make sure it is most certainly hot all the time!
More information & tips
1) You can add some dried prawns/shrimp to add more ummph!
2) Reduce or increase the amount of green pepper to make the pepper sauce less or more hot, respectively.
3) Alternatively, instead of cooking all the ingredients at different stages, just blend everything together (except the lime juice). Then add to the oil and simmer until oil separates, then add the lime juice and simmer for another 10 minutes before removing.
