MSHENYE: MASHED SWEET POTATOES WITH KIDNEY BEANS & CORN
Mshenye is an indigenous East Africa delicious mash of sweet potatoes, maize and beans. This food is mainly cooked by the Gikuyu tribe in Kenya, however, other tribes in East Africa has their own variation and names too. (In Tanzania, they do not add the maize/corn and is called Kifuge). It is a healthy filling dish with a flavour to match and can be eaten at anytime of the day.
HOW TO COOK MSHENYE

1) Mshenye can be enjoyed on its own or served with salads, stews, fried meat and kale/sukuma wiki, or just served with tea for breakfast!
2) The final product should be brownish in colour due to the kidney beans. It should neither be too dry nor sticky.
