Minced meat in a spicy tomato sauce (bolognaise) is a delicious sauce that can accompany any dish like rice or spaghetti. As with any other dish, it will have different names and regional variations according to regions and personal preference. Here is our take on this minced beef sauce.

1) When browning the ground meat, make sure you use a high heat to prevent the meat producing any liquid during the frying session. Use a large enough pan so that the mince is quickly and evenly browned.
2) For a healthy low fat vegetarian version, substitute the minced meat with quorn mince.
3) For an Asian twist, add ½ tsp of Garam masala in addition to the other spices. Preparation and cooking method remains the same. Then sprinkle with chopped coriander leaves before serving. Serve with Chapati or paratha.
4) This particular sauce is known as 'ALAYEH' in the Middle East or 'ROSTI LA NYAMA YA KUSAGA' in East Africa. Note: Pine nuts are omitted in East Africa recipe.
